Routines: A Steady Drumbeat

Your baby's developing internal clock wants to sync with the world, but it needs help. Routines act like anchors, tethering that drifting clock to real time.

When you feed, play, or wind down at roughly the same time each day, you're giving your baby's brain reliable landmarks. Over time, their body learns: "This is when we rest. This is when we're active."

Why Predictability Lowers Stress

When your baby can't predict what's next, they stay a little on guard. Not because anything is wrong, but because their brain is working hard to figure out the world, and that takes effort they could otherwise spend winding down.

Choo-choo, all aboard! Babies don't know that bath time means "sleep in 30 minutes." But when the same things happen in the same order, night after night, their brain starts to connect the dots.
