13.7 mois the median age for the move to one nap, and 9 in 10 of the babies seen to move did it between 10.9 and 17.7 months.
Many families stop logging before their baby moves, so later moves are probably missing.
When each nap goes
The middle baby drops to three naps at about 6 months, to two at about 9 and to one at about 14.
The line is a typical baby. Most babies fall somewhere in the shading, so being above or below the line is normal.
A baby has moved when it starts a run of 7 or more days at the lower count, so these ages are a little later than when a parent would first see the change. Each range is 9 in 10 of the babies seen to make that move. Two years of days, October 2024 to September 2026, because a move takes a long run of days to see.
Complete days only: a day counts when a parent logged the morning wake-up, every nap and bedtime, with at least one nap. The night is the time from bedtime to the next morning wake-up. Each baby counts once per month of age, as its own average over at least 7 complete days, so every baby gets one vote. Unsettled weeks count too: nothing is left out for being irregular. Only what parents entered is used. A baby has moved to one nap when it starts a run of 7 or more days at one nap after one at two; two years of days, because a move takes a long run of days to see.
